HBA Spike Club Scholarships 2010

Hernando Builders Association Spike Club Accepting Scholarship Applications

The Spike Club of the Hernando Builders Association has established an annual scholarship program to assist Hernando County public high school graduates in furthering their construction-oriented education (drafting, architecture & design, air conditioning & refrigeration, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, construction management, cost estimation, construction inspection, engineering, and surveying).  This program targets students because there are so many jobs in the construction-oriented sector, which cannot be filled by a student with today’s “general education.”

It is the intent of the Hernando Builders Association to award a $500.00 scholarship to each of four (4) selected graduates from any Hernando County high school.  These scholarships are to be applied toward the cost of books and tuition in the field of construction.

Applications are made available through the High School Guidance Departments and the HBA Office. Scholarship awards shall be the responsibility of the Scholarship Selection Committee of the HBA.

The Scholarship Selection Committee will use the following award guidelines:

• Any Hernando County public high school graduate seeking to further their education is eligible for a scholarship.
• All requests for a scholarship must be presented on a HBA Application form.
• Scholarships will be granted primarily on the basis of merit; secondarily, on the basis of need.
• Students will be evaluated on their leadership abilities, academic achievements, extra curricular activities, ambition, motivation, and attitude.

Applications for this Scholarship must be returned to the HBA office by Friday, April 16, 2010. The HBA Office is located at 7391 Sunshine Grove Road, Brooksville, 34613. For more information call the HBA at 352-596-1114.
